Tales of Suspense #1 and Tales To Astonish #1, 1959

2 low grade comics for professional restoration.
Work entailed cover cleaning and pressing.  Spine reinforced/rebuilt using Japanese rice paper.  Fills along spine, corners and small nicks at margins.
Color touch at mends and fills, interior and exterior of cover.  Pages mended and/or filled where needed at chips and corners.  Pages de-acidified for longterm preservation.

Avengers #1

Worn and tired, this comic had tape and a makeshift fill on back cover from another book.  Restoration included cleaning and pressing the cover.  Tape removal at back cover to remove cut out fill.  Conserved fill and shaped it to fit the large hole at bottom margin of back cover.  Reinforced spine and other small tears.  Color touch at mends and fills, interior and exterior of cover.  Pages de-acidified for longterm preservation.  Very desirable comic to now hold and enjoy.

Wings 25

Beautiful book but severe spine roll and tape/tape stain on back cover.
First I had to remove the cover and remove the tape which was on back cover and inside back cover.  Tape staining was very stubborn but it was minimized. Tear was sealed using Japanese heat set tissue.  Each page was individually pressed and since the pages were a slight bit tan, each page was de-acidified to neutralize and buffer paper.  Spine roll removed.  Cover re-assembled using original staples and book pressed intact.

Nice, solid books found in an estate sale.  A little dirty, creased and rolled spines. Pencil overlay on the top of the cover.  Basic cleaning and a good pressing makes them whole and new looking again.

I love Golden Age More Fun!  Same as Detectives and Action...DC Publishing in the 40's used better paper quality and covers are soft, supple with a beautiful matte finish.

This book was tired, worn and very dirty front and back covers and extremely dirt along the spine rolled margin.  Cover was dry cleaned in all white areas and cleaning pad used over entire book.  Rolled margin of all interior pages carefully dry cleaned to remove soiling.  Cover washed, light bleached using sunlight and spot bleached using hydrogen peroxide.  Cover pressed flat, spine reinforced using layers of Japanese tissue.  Fills along spine and top and bottom of cover as well as some worn areas along margins.  Tears sealed along margins.  Color touch at fills and mends.  Each page individually pressed flat, spine roll removed. Restored cover re-assembled to interior using original staples and book pressed flat.
